Category Owner News — March 17, 2023
Greetings Category Owners,
This should reach you on March 17th, so Happy St. Patrick’s Day. As the Irish say: “May you have all the happiness and luck that life can hold—and at the end of your rainbows may you find a pot of gold.”
We have just a few things for you to know about.
CO FAQ: Our new website has a volunteer portal, accessible by password only, under the Volunteer tab. In the portal are links to different documents, including an extensive list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) for category owners. We hope the CO FAQ will help answer most of the questions about being a category owner that you’ve been asking, and maybe even answer a few you didn’t know you had. We welcome additions/corrections. Here is a direct link to the category owner FAQ: https://booksale.ppcentralcoast.org/volunteer/volunteer-portal/category-owner-faq/
The password for everything in the portal is “lookling”
Scanning for Amazon value: To clarify, we don’t want to send anything to Amazon that would list for less than $11. When you get a message that says “For Amazon unless EW price is…,” check what “Our online used price” says. You will find this on the right side of the Lookling page under the name of the publisher and the publication date. Send the book through if that value is at least $11.
PP Book Club: Elissa, a recent hire at PP, is organizing a quarterly online book club. She is interested in getting certain titles from us to share with those who may be unable to buy the books. If you get these books and are willing to donate them to PP, you can leave them in the chairs’ inbox in the office. The first titles she is requesting are:
- Alice Walker, The Color Purple
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg, My Own Words
- Rebecca Solnit, Men Explain Things To Me
In next month’s Book Blast, we will share how to join the Book Club.
Dealer Sale: Everything is ready for the Dealer Sale on April 15th. Just a reminder, if you have agreed to have your bins accessible, please have the books in your bins priced and ready to sell. We have some additional book shelf space. If anyone else wants to display books, let us know
As you continue to pack for EW: Our schleppers move boxes to the containers when 12 boxes of a particular letter are sealed and ready to go. They have noticed that some of our COs are placing their boxes in the wrong letter area and intermixing X boxes with boxes for the EW front room. Please double check where your boxes get placed (Map of the warehouse locations is on the big map of EW in the center aisle of the warehouse). X boxes get put by the back door to the containers. Dealer Sale boxes are being placed there for now as well, but they can be intermixed and the schleppers will take care of that.
Thanks for all you do.
Stay dry. Stay healthy.
