Category Owner Blast — Feb. 13, 2023

Greetings Category Owners,

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY.
Here’s hoping that there is sweetness in your day and that it lasts all month!

Dealer Sale: Saturday, April 15, 8AM to Noon:
This is the only Dealer Sale we will have this year.

The following categories will have table space–Art, DVDs and Records, Graphic books, Hardcover Mystery, New Age, Religion & Philosophy, Science Fiction, Sports & Adventure, Trade Fiction, and War & Military,

There will be no rough sort on Thursday, April 13, or Saturday, April 15.

We will get everything ready to go on Tuesday, April 11, which gives you Wednesday through Friday to set up your tables. You can take down on the afternoon of Saturday, the 15th, or on that Sunday. We need to be ready for rough sort to resume on Monday, April 16th.

The categories that do not want to participate and want their bins covered are Drama, Fiction First, Foreign Language, Literature and SB/CA. The Art, Cooking, and Specials rooms will be cordoned off and closed to dealers.

If you are a category owner in one of those rooms who would like to have books accessible, please let us know.

Would everyone else please have their bins ready for the sale or let us know if you would like your bins to be covered also?

We need 6-8 talliers for the sale. If you would like to tally, please let us know–thanks!

New ways to make money: Catharine has discovered value in Advanced Readers and Uncorrected Proofs. We know some of you keep them for sale, but some of you just toss them. From now on, please let Catharine have a look at them. Put them in her Hardcover Fiction rough sort box and if there is no special value, she will return them to you.

News from Amazon: Amazon is now accepting books with Amazon value even though they might have slight bug damage. Treat them as if they are at best G+ (Good) in Lookling. If in doubt, send the book on to Amazon…

Your junk is our treasure: The PP History Project is looking for artifacts from previous sales–photos, news clippings, handouts, etc. If you have such things that we could borrow so that we may digitize them, please put them in the History Project mail box in the office. Include your name so that we can return them.

Free books for volunteers: Got too many of a particular book? Put it on the Freebies shelf under the rescue table. The books are curated regularly, so check there for something you might like to read and help us keep it well stocked.

Going to be gone?: If you are going to be gone for more than a few days, please email your dates to the chairs at [email protected]. This info helps us manage boxes. If while you are gone you’d like help scanning, let us know, as we now have roving scanners who will help you stay current.

Trash, everybody’s favorite subject: Just a quick note–if your trash container is getting full, please empty it into the big trash cans. Trash gets picked up on Fridays by Marburg.

Hey, everybody, we sure appreciate all the work you put it in to keep this such a well oiled machine.

You are truly amazing!

Fran, Eliot, and Christina
