Book Blast — May 4, 2023

Let’s carry the success of the Dealer Sale forward as we gear up for the Earl Warren Sale in September. Every moving part of the book sale is vital to our fundraising success, and we can’t wait to see you at the Volunteer Appreciation Event on June 1st, to both celebrate and get ready for the main event- the Earl Warren Sale. RSVP info below.

Amazon: Thank you all for our Amazon success in April! Fulfilled by Amazon sold 1,119 books for $13,328. Fulfilled by Merchant (us) sold 19 books for a profit of $1,278. This is a total 1,138 books for $14,606.

Outside Sales: In April, we made $1,959.81 in outside sales not counting the Dealer Sale. If you have a thought as to increase outside sales, please let us know!

Dealer Sale: The Dealer sale went phenomenally well! As you know, $7,088 was raised on the sale. Thank you to everyone who participated in the sale from category owners and schleppers to talliers and our cashier. The sale could not have happened, or have been so successful, without the participation of so many! Thank you for your time and effort.

Volunteer Appreciation Event: RSVPs are due for the Appreciation Event by May 15th. We can not wait to see you ALL at the June 1st Volunteer Appreciation Event 1-3pm at Brass Bear Uptown. Please RSVP to Natalie Smith HERE if you are able to attend. We need a head count soon. We will be enjoying beverages (alcoholic and non), food provided by Planned Parenthood, and a raffle. We hope to see both new and old volunteers at the event. See you soon!

Volunteer Appreciation Event Raffle Items: If you’d like to donate an item to the raffle, please respond to this email. We have Planned Parenthood swag, but are continuing to collect other possible raffle items- crafts, etc. -so if you feel like donating, we’d love to hear what you would like to give! And you can leave donated items in the office.

Locking Up: If you are the last one to leave the warehouse, it is your responsibility to check that all the doors are locked- side door in the warehouse to the containers, main warehouse door, and the glass door leading to the Amazon hallway- and that all the lights are turned off. Lately doors have been left unlocked. If you are not comfortable being the last one to leave the warehouse, please don’t be the last one there.

Wet Books:  We recently received a donation of several boxes of books that contained some that were wet. Some of these made it to the rough sort table where they were put into bins. Other wet books were boxed and placed into the Big Pond. Just a reminder, wet books are unacceptable and may lead to collateral damage if not immediately recycled.

Book Sale Ephemera: If you have, or come across, any book sale ephemera please bring it to the office. This could be an old sale bookmark, a book marked “purchased at the PP book sale,” or an article. We are compiling a history of the Sale for the 50th sale next year and we can use everyone’s help!

Thank you,

The Chairs- Christina, Fran, and Eliot
