| Wow! The Volunteer Appreciation event was amazing. Thank you to the nearly 100 volunteers who were able to attend. Brass Bear Uptown was a great location, so big cheers to their help, to our raffle item donors, and to the Planned Parenthood staff who helped plan and execute the event. It was amazing to see so many of us at the Brass Bear chatting and getting to know each other better outside of the warehouse. Thank you to volunteer Carol Gold who created bookmarks for all volunteers. You will find yours in the sign in room. Photo links to come, and look for the PP volunteer “thank you boards” going up in the warehouse for all to see! Amazon: Thank you all for our Amazon success in May! Fulfilled by Amazon sold 1,114 books for $12,265. Fulfilled by Merchant (us) sold 30 books for a profit of $2,210. This is a total 1,144 books for $14,475. Outside Sales: In May, we made $901 in outside sales. If you have a thought as to increase outside sales, please let us know! Rough Sort: Thank you rough sorters and rough sort leads who are plowing through our massive donations. Wednesday rough sorts are back through June. If you are a NEW ROUGH SORTER, less than a year, please do not rough sort on your own, but please join us at the lead rough sorts as listed below If you have questions please reach out to a rough sort lead. Lead Rough Sort Times: Monday, 1-3pm Wednesday, 1-3pm Thursday, 10am-12pm Saturday, 10am-12pm Warehouse Alarm: The warehouse has an alarm that works–and it is very loud! The warehouse hours have changed to 6am-7pm. If you try to access the warehouse outside of those times the alarm will sound and Planned Parenthood and the police will be notified. Locking Up: We continue to have issues with locking up, so if you are the last one to leave the warehouse, it is your responsibility to check that all the doors are locked- side door in the warehouse to the containers, main warehouse door, and the glass door leading to the Amazon hallway, and that all the lights are turned off. Lately doors have been left unlocked. If you are not comfortable being the last one to leave the warehouse, please don’t be the last one there. Back Room at Earl Warren Help: Pam (Trade Fiction CO) has been running the back room at Earl Warren fabulously for years now and would like to pass the torch next year. She wants to train the new back room manager at this upcoming Earl Warren sale. If you are interested in helping with, or taking over the back room, please reach out to Pam or respond to this email. You do not have to be a category owner to do this vital job at Earl Warren. Packing Material – Plastic and Newspaper: We are always in need of plastic packing material for shipping and newspaper for Earl Warren packing. Please keep bringing it in, as everything donated keeps us from having to buy supplies. Plastic Tubs for Free: There are plastic tubs on the pallets to the left of the side door to the back parking lot that are free for volunteers to take. Help yourself! Covid Boosters: The latest Covid boosters are out there, and flu shots will be coming in the following months. We highly encourage all volunteers to keep getting boosted.
